What exactly is this? How long has it been implimented? It's the first time I've seen it.

looks like link units showing up instead of ads. also looks like you have no real content above the fold?

This might just be some new ad format that Google is testing. Looks like it's a combination of a normal Adsense unit and an Adlink unit that controls that Adsense unit. Don't worry about it, Google is constantly testing new things, and chances are that you aren't likely to see something like this again.

Eh, it's my website and it's not premium - I'm guessing google is just testing a new format. Interesting nonetheless.

It looks like you are being given the option to change the ads you are being served to a specific niche. I will laugh my a** off if I see "change to ads about Ringtones". :D

I think it's a big Up Yours to Ask.com from Google.

If you've seen a few of the new Ask.com commercials you'd notice they're promoting this "relative searches" feature (like it's new or something). If you do a search for "books" on the side menu you get about 5 links with relative keywords like "Romance Books" "Mysteries" etc etc.. So I believe Google noticed that and was like: hey screw you guys, we'll can do that across our entire ad network.

At the end of one of the commercials Ask.com says

"Google's not better, just more popular"

    lol!

I just saw the "Change to ads about" on a new site I'm building. Thought something cheeky was going on. Does anyone know how long they've been testing?

You can even type in what ads you want to see via a input box and submit button within the ad!

I've been getting them on my site for the past 2 days as well... Kinda interesting. I'm surprised there was no annoucement regarding them in the Adsense blog or something...

I don't like it. It's making the ads stand out for all the wrong reasons...
