Is there a way to make a certain post in a category to always appear on top when you click on that category?
Yes you can. It's called sticky post. Use this plugin : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sticky/ - Dynashox -
no it does not work. When i click on sticky it will make the post stick at the top no matter where i am on the site and which cat i click on . I want it so when i click on a particular category that post will only show up top in that category and not everywhere. I want to be able to normal make posts and they show up on my front page as recent but when i click on a special category, that post will be on top in that certain category.
Weird. It working for me though. Have you set the 'Categories Only' to yes in the Sticky Options page? - Dynashox -
yes . this is how i have it category 1 - post in Category 1 -sub category a of Category 1 -posts in sub -posts in sub -sub category b of Category 1 -posts in sub -posts in sub how do I make the first post thats in the main category a sticky so it has higher privilages than the posts in the sub categories making it apear number at the top when clicked on category 1? I want to be abel to freely post and put posts in the subcategories, but i still want that post in the main category to stay at the top when clicked on the main category. It doesn't seem to be working. I'l make a video if whats going on
Did you try selecting "announcement" and not "sticky"... sometimes different templates are coded with different behaviors. There is no plugin that would allow you to rearrange posts. There are plugins to rearrange links and categories. In my opinion this is one thing that is really lacking in WordPress. Joomla lets you sort posts by a number of criteria... alphabetic, date, number of clicks, etc. It's the one thing that is sorely lacking.
