change permanent links on wordpress help

    hi. i want to make my wordpress posts
    instead of /?p=43 to /home/make etc....

    but ive tried to change this on the options page and the links are broken, i mean they are not generated (the posts)

    do i have to make again every post? or how long does it take to updatee? thanks.
