I recommend you simply add new keywords instead of changing the current ones. Although most people would recommend CHANGING the keywords and key phrases, this is often counterproductive. I think that you can still benefit from the work you have already done on the existent keywords. The only thing you need to do is add new content and try to optimize for the NEW keywords. I would never recommend continuously changing content, as it can be detrimental.

add new keywords or modify existing keywords. no reason to change something that you already worked for

You can simply do this job:
    1. Add new content with your new targeted keywords
    2. Have your new keywords in your anchor tag/title of where you submit your site.
    3. Avoid link spamming

By doing this, you are not only setting up your new keywords by your site is also getting quality and fresh content and your previous keywords are also there to backup your site.

    Hope this helps!

You could try doing backlinking for the keywords that you already have. That might help increase their effectiveness

Yes it is possible that you can update your existing keywords which are currently using on your website. But there is a one disadvantage of it you will be lost the current ranking or positioning of your website.
