i checked webmaster tools for one of my websites today and noticed a change as to how subdomains work. under the "settings" heading for any of the sub domains it now shows. It did not work that way a few weeks ago when i checked. I used to have the crawl rate set slower for the sub domains as they are dynamic scrips and during a deep crawl goog can go a bit too fast for them. I then checked the root domain and somehow google had changed from letting it set its own speed to a way off level of 300 seconds delay although i have now set it to a 3 second delay, which is fast enough for my needs. Looks like when they stopped the settings in the sub domains it somehow affected the root settings ? HOWEVER the point of this post ... like many i had been wondering why my serps had been dropping of late, and i wonder if the change they have made to the way the "settings" work in webmaster tools may be part of it for some members, especially if they also use sub domains for blogs, forums etc. May be worth checking your settings in webmaster tools to check.
It's not there for me.. I mean, those two options are there, but I can change the settings. have you added any subdomain there in the GWT?
yes i added the sub domains LONG ago else how would i have noticed a change in how they display for me ? could be they are doing a "split" 50/50 test with different options for different users ? or something like that ? the ability to have it show www. or NON www. also has vanished for my sub domains as well.... only working for root... which is not what i want as for root i always set it to www but NON www for sub domains .... should be ok as have subs set with 301 redirects if anyone links via www. they are up to someting if mine show different to yours. Time will show what.
