They say chameleons use their ability to change their color to merge with surroundings and escape predators. That may not be what we want with Google AdSense everytime… At times we want the ads to stand out and seduce users to click on them! And we want them to blend in sometimes where users think that they are 'usual' site links and click on them!! Can you achieve both these with the same code? You can have ads that blend in sometimes and stand out at other times with the same code! You can have up to 4 color variations for each variable for which you can specify color. An example: google_color_border = [â€FFFFFFâ€,â€000000″,â€333333″,â€0033FFâ€]; google_color_bg= [â€CCCCCCâ€,â€FFFFFFâ€,â€EEEEEEâ€,â€FFFFFFâ€]; google_color_link = [â€FFFFFFâ€,â€000000″,â€333333″,â€0033FFâ€]; google_color_url = [â€FFFFFFâ€,â€000000″,â€333333″,â€0033FFâ€]; google_color_text = [â€FFFFFFâ€,â€000000″,â€333333″,â€0033FFâ€]; Use this tip and you will have ads that keep changing or rotating within the four combinations that you have specified. Just wondering if it's against TOS... We will be altering the codes to do this...
Thou shall not alter the Google code says the Google god. However they have a way you can change ad colors like on the DP forum. Shannon
you can use up to 4 colors set for each ads. You can do it from the adsense account page by press CTRL and select which Ads Color type to use for your ads unit.
From my testing on four sites, I have found rotating ad colors lowers ctr. I have decided to just stick with the one color combination that performs the best. In most cases it is the blended background with same link color as the rest of the site. Also I might add that I get a high percentage of unique visitors, so my visitors aren't prone to ad blindness. If you have many return visitors, ie. a forum, I imagine rotating colors helps to defeat ad blindness.
Ha har, the old chameleon misconception, chameleons don't change colour to avoid predataors or to blend with their background, they change colour in relation to their mood or temperature, ie they turn dark when cold to try and absorb more of the sun's heat.
Well, avoiding predators is one of the reasons why chameleons change color when they move from one background (eg. leaf) to another background (eg. bark of tree)*. Survival is one of the most basic instincts, even more basic than reproduction/sex. So now wonder, they employ that for survival too... *Reference: What makes a chameleon change colors? Whatever it is about the chameleons, it is true that rotating colours does exactly the opposite... or exactly the same, depending on the way you use it, IT ATTRACTS more attention. In forums, it is a blessing in disguise. Ask DP!
Nice tips. But not sure how will it would workout for people who try to blend the ad into the content.
