    Hey all,

I am thinking about setting up a website with affiliate products. I am checking out right now how to do that exactly.

I live in holland and what I know about business here is that whenever you open something of your own, you need to register yourself in the chamber of commerce. Now, my question is if someone on this forum knows that if I will open a website with affiliate products, it is necessary for me to go and register myself as a business in the chamber of commerce ??

    Thanks for any info,..

I don't know how it is in holland but in most of the countries you can get revenue without having a company (Individual). As long as you pay your taxes it shouldn't be any problem.

    Onesolo,

I'm an eBusiness Adviser in the UK. The main reason I see clients registering businesses with an organisation like the Chamber of Commerce is due to banking charges.

Every country has their own rules for registering a business and taxes. Drugoon is quite right in saying you can earn money as an individual as long as you pay your taxes, BUT your bank may not be very happy if they suspect you are using a personal account for business transactions - they lose out on bank charges. At some point you are going to want access to all the revenue your site generates so it will need to reach your bank account at some point.

Banks are very approachable about setting up a business banking account and they offer a number of incentives, such as free business banking for a year. To open a business account you may very well need to go to the Chamber of Commerce, but you will qualify for a number of Tax advantages. In the UK you can claim VAT (Value Added Tax) back on goods you've purchased for the business - I'm not sure what the tax system in Holland is but there will be definite advantages in registering the business. Clients I work with usually complain about the paper work, but they usually stop once they see they get back 17.5% on all business purchases!

Get in contact with your Chamber of Commerce and find out the advantages of registering. They may offer you free consultancy with someone like myself.

Look at the policies your current bank have for business transactions. It may be worth looking around for a new bank.

Take your time to decide how to proceed. Any business that is built on solid foundations, regardless if its online or offline will always do better than one that is built without careful planning.

    Good luck.

The thing that made me most confused about registering or not is the fact that with ebusiness sites, you can can never really know if it will work or not. I might try 5 or more concepts in order to see wich one is giving best revenues. The things is that ones you register in the chamber of commerce, you have to specify your services or what you do in order to get revenues.... While this may change !
