Hi I notice in a certain diectory that i am in -- when i view the source of the page the link looks something like -

    <a href="/bin/thePlacesSite.cgi?ID=1158259153" target=""> my_link </a>

when i click it it goes to the appropriate page -- my home page which is in the form www.mysite.html

Ive never came across this type of link and how does google or search engines treat this?

Links like this can still be counted as google backlinks, but I am not sure what kind of pr they will pass if any.

Thats unfortunate - as I got over 100 pr 3 links from a directory that has the links in the format. Anyone else have any knowlege of this type of link and how serach engines treat this.

Yea, the site links to itself. Then it redirects to you... the SE's probably aren't going to like that as much as a direct link to you. No one really knows how MUCH it's going to count, as no one here knows the algos in use (if they do, they aren't telling.)

My -guess- would be that it's not going to count nearly as much.
