Personally, I have had absolutely no luck in this area. I attempted to write an ebook about a topic in my niche however it received only 3 sales. I gave up on the ebook idea and published the information free of charge onto a website and now it receives 20-30 uniques per day and around $5/week income. This is my personal story and if you are thinking of writing an ebook, go ahead because it is a great learning experience.

I don't want to smack you down. But a lot of people on the internet are fed up with ebooks and are seriously reluctant to buy them. If however your's was something completely different (like they all claim to be) then maybe you could get some affiliates and that could boost sales. Good Luck.

I don't think an e-book is suitable for what you're planning. I don't know anyone who'll pay money for an unestablished online comic that comes in a form of a PDF file. Of course, the exception being that you intend to distribute the comic for free, in which I'd suggest P2P sharing. Otherwise, you might as well just make a website and use images rather than an e-book.

My ebook was marginally successful in very oversaturated market. Now that sales have slipped substantially, I plan on breaking it up into articles and putting it on my website.

You might have better luck submitting to a book publisher and using the website to promote the characters.

If you feel you can continue to write about this, the idea of breaking it up into website content and once you have traffic and recognition, putting a new book on sales was a very good one.

Children's books are very hot, but most parents want something tangible.

I think you should create a membership site instead of an e-book.

there are many successful art communities and there is always room for one more...

don't let anyone's negativity about saturated this or that deter you from your dreams...there is plenty of prosperity to go around. Never give up. If something doesn't work, try something else...

I personally don't feel e-books are no longer popular. I think expensive
    ebooks are no longer popular.

I've had great success with e-books, but it depends on your niche.

Try signing up for Mike Filsaime's "Butterfly Reports". It is a free site where your e-book may get wide (and viral) distribution.

Well Free ebooks certainly have there appeal provided the content is Good. But make sure the ebook has its own site. You get a nice traffic from it.

Agreed. Not to be rude, but the only real thing I bother with ebooks is putting them out there as a free marketing tool.

Maybe a certain ebook can, but somehow in general I do not see them as a huge revenue drawer anymore.

Somebody said earlier that building a membership site for artworks is a great way to make money if you want to create an art related product.

I still think ebooks have a future. After all what are you going to sell if its not in ebook form?
