I was trying to fix an error I was receiving with a video script and was advised to install FreeType and ImageMagick. They were already installed so I decided that it might be worth a try to uninstall them, restart the server ( computer ) and then install them again. When FreeType was being uninstalled, I noticed that with it, gnome seemed to be cleaning up as well, but I didn't think too much about it. Then, after uninstalling, I restarted the computer and it wont boot! I simply receive this error: Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception Any idea what I can do? Perhaps I should just try to get my site's data off the hard drive and then re-install CentOS? Is there any other way?
Try booting into console with init=/bin/bash, then reinstall gnome, then yum -y install kernel, reboot into that kernel.
