I don't see why it wouldn't be ok to do so. A nice email explaining to them what you're looking for and basically kindly offering them to buy your domain name...
It's definately ok to contact them, the only issue is if you own a Trademarked domain & try to sell it to the TM holder, then you'll be in a bit of hot water.
