why do all my foreign incoming sms has the sender's address as 50X and then followed by ? (XXXXX is the sender's number). the frustrating thing about this is that it truncates the message by 20 characters just to fit the .

i used to have the original +XXXXXXXXX with cingular. i'm using t-mobile now.

speaking of cingular, i put in a deposit of $500 with them (having no SSN and credit history) to sign the contract. according to them, if i terminate the service within 14 days of activation, i will get my deposit back, and would not be charged the early termination fee. and then i would be charged only for any usage in that period.

i terminated it after 5 days, and when i called them, they told me they will deduct $55 from my deposit. i was shocked because there's no way i could've used that much in 5 days. demanded for an explanation, they gave some really vague answers. but they say they'll send a statement. so i okayed it.

a week later, the statement came. they billed me $96. and the deposit is nowhere. this time i called them again, they basically said "sorry, nothing we could do." i refused to pay.

then the "notice of collection action" letter came, and this time the amount they threatened me with was $55, the original amount they told me on the phone weeks ago. and the statement that came with it basically said that i owed them a FULL MONTH of service charge.

i was really not in the mood to argue anymore, so i just wrote it off as losses. i wrote a check and mailed to them.

a week later, another statement came. this time it says i owe them $55 (past due balance) plus an additional $12. this statement detailed the phone calls and IMs that i made during the 5 days that i used their service.

so why the **** did i pay $55 in the first place?? the deposit is still nowhere to be seen.
