I'm getting mixed responses on this, some say go for CB Popularity and some say go for CB Gravity What do YOU guys go for and most importantly WHY???
A high gravity means that a lot of affiliates are selling the product. This is a good sign. However, it also means there are a lot of affiliates promoting the product, which means more competition. I believe if you find a good solid product with a good niche that has a low gravity, that means if you work it hard you will have a good chance for success. There isn't as much competition.
^^ It's a catch 22 really. High gravity products are usually selling because they convert better, not just because more affiliates are promoting the product.
Honestly, in my niche, something with a low gravity actually converted better for me than with a high gravity. Two similar products: Turbulence Training (High Gravity) vs. Gladiator Body Workout (Low Gravity). GBW is converting better than TT probably for a few reasons: - Not many people promoting it, so individuals might be glad to see a refreshing new product - Sales copy is a lot more down to Eath than TT - The offer is better - You get more content for approximately the same price. I hope this helps.
Gravity is based on how many different affiliates have made a sale in the last 90 days. It is no indication at how well the product converts other than a lot of people have made at least one conversion. Popularity is determined by a publisher’s net sales over a recent time frame and also rewards publishers who have many affiliates promoting them. Popularity is a better indicator for conversion rates between like gravitied products. So if you have three products and one has a gravity of 24 the other has a gravity of 30 and the third has a gravity of 45 and the one with a gravity of 30 is ranked higher then it is more than likely the better converter. It definitely generates more sales but could have better affiliates or it could be the sales copy. It is really impossible to determine but I always use popularity when making decisions. If you look at the Health/Remedies top 20 ranked by popularity you will see some good examples of higher gravity products being ranked lower.
So then, is there a THUMB RULE so to speak? What do you look for as you MINIMUM criteria? > gravity over 100? > popularity over 100? > commission over $10? What factors influence your selection process???
Why would you do that? You've immediately found the products with the highest competition. Look for things that you can find a unique way of promoting...don't just follow the crowd.
if you are asking me, I don't really care what the gravity is. I have made a lot of money off of products that had a gravity of less than 10. I look at the sales page as the number 1 criteria for picking a product. I then look at competition in the market place. If i can find a fairly popular product (top 50 in a competitive subcategory) with a low-medium gravity and a good sales page, then I have found luck with it. commission is meaningless without knowing the cost of sale. A $50 commission may pay less than a $20 commission.
Sorry, can you please clarify what you mean by this?...in fact what would be better is if you could share how YOU select an affiliate product AND how you promote it uniquely (methods you use)
What I mean is: high gravity = lots of affiliates promoting a product = lots of competition. The PPC bids are high for all of these products and there are thousands of articles written about them. Just going after these high gravity products is very, very difficult because of this. I'm not giving away any of my secrets, but I will say that I focus more on trying to find a unique way to promote a certain product than the product itself. For example, I don't look at a golf swing e-book and decide to promote it just because I like golf or because it has high gravity - I might choose to promote that product because it looks like it will convert (nice landing page, interesting niche, etc) and MORE IMPORTANTLY, I can think of a unique way of promoting it that is specific to golf that no one else has thought of.
I will go for high gravity products as it sells very well.Gravity is NOT a measure of popularity of a product or its sales. Rather, it is a time-based figure of merit on the success that other affiliate marketers have had selling this product.
No. It's a figure that shows how many other affiliates are promoting a product. More affiliates = more competition. The real money is made by finding a great product with low gravity BEFORE it becomes a high gravity product. That's when you have limited competition to advertise the product in question. You can tell most of the people in this thread can't sell anything with Clickbank...
