It's the opposite... US dollar is down, not Canadian.

1 year ago $1 US would give you about $1.05 CAD
right now $1 US gives you $0.95 CAD

They took almost 100$ off of my last check

 

There are always pros and cons but i'm very happy with the DD option. Conversation rate seems to be fair. I got to pay $2.5 for each DD.
