CB and PPC/AdWords - my observations so far

it seems that i have (on average) a 50-60 clicks/sale conversion rate which is actually "ok"..if not "pretty good".
Also...it looks that my rate "cost for PPC" <--> "sales" is about 1:2....eg i put in an amount for PPC and after 50-60 clicks i get a sale and made double what i invested.

    So....basically it's a slow process...but overall profitable!

Is this about the same what you have ?

Of course it depends on many other factors.....assumed you have good niche products, low competition etc..etc..

Add: I usually draw the line at a max. EU 0.27 bid....eg. yesterday i tried to make a campaign for "google assassin" but i already give up on it since bids are WAY to high for this.....love my other niches/keywords tho !!

uhm..i said i tried...but i never got it above position 20 in Google anyway..i am not crazy and bid 1EU..there are zillion other, better products.
Havent even thought about the pop-up, you are right. But as said i didnt even go that far.

I always use a LP...but its a clone of the real site...

there is a "problem" since my method of cloning requires a tool! This tool is $29 but worth the money ! I am in talks with the programmer to include the tool in the pack. Btw. if you're signed up at CB and buy through own aff-link its cheaper....so :) (This is not a pitch, if i would know about a free tool or script which does what the tool does i i would've included this! I love joint-ventures....but so far the programmer hasnt responded to my request about partnership).

Otherwise you're set with hosting and everything, you just need this tool.

I doubt he'll respond any time soon if you're telling people to order his software through their own aff link ;)

i just made a camtasia video.i cloned "affiliate elite" (full site with 100% content) in under 2mins. Video is being converted on youtube right now ;) I will write a new thread in the "affiliate marketing" forum in a few mins.
Btw. "under 2mins" means including creation of subdomain, uploading and everything :)

well..i would up the price for my ebook accordingly...it would still be attractive for him if i sell the book + tool for, say, $39 and we split 50:50 !

I'm surprised that Google allows the hijacked landing pages in AdWords... maybe they just don't have a good way of checking for them...

Have you ever had a problem with getting your pages approved GeorgR?

nope! no problem at all! I mean despites the term "hijacked" (which admittedly is a bit a PR stunt) this is still more legitimate than a simple PHP header redirect..i man i have content while the typical cloak/redirect is just a line of code and then redirects to the page. Those are even worse, now speaking from a Google's TOS point of view. The only "penalty" i could see would be dupe content.....but this is irrelevant. Better a site with dupes than just a lame redirect.

Just curious, is this illegal or against any kind of ToS in duplicating an affiliate site's contents?

fresh, interestingly..we had this debate yesterday on W after i released this as a WSO.

It comes down to technical questions like "is it against TOS when my own URL stays in the browser"...or "is it fine then when it is a redirect [with vendor'r URL] in the browser"...etc..etc..

I said that URL redirecting and cloaking is a very, very common method used by many..while "my" method actually *should* be more friendly towards Goggle TOS since in fact no redirects are happening.

The only gripe which could happen is that a vendor (for some reason) does not like the fact to have a copy of his site running. For that rare occasions that tool has an option to display a copyright disclaimer on the "cloned" page. I also advise, in case of doubt, to ask a vendor/merchant for permission if its ok.

Keep in mind that vendors, eg. on clickbank, list their products for ONE reason:
So that others can promote their products!

Let's put it that way: I would be very suprised if a vendor says "nono, thats not ok!" since the vendor benefits from this method as well as the affiliate. Every sale i make is also profit for the vendor!

I also said that, assuming a vendor gives permission for someone "hosting" ("displaying") his site...i dont think there could be any issue with Google...what "rules/TOS" should Google refer to to forbid anyone to promote a product...even if it's a dupe site ?

Remember we're not claiming/pretending that we are another site, nor is there any dark/illegal intention behind the whole method. We're not stealing the vendor's profits - we're well within what the vendor actually wants and encourages: Affiliates selling his products!

Its just a better and more advanced way to promote vendor's products without redirects which only consist of of a line of code and pseudo/fake-sites etc. If you look around you can see countless websites which use url-redirect (the known "www.example.com/recommends/product.php" <----) and noone ever came up with the idea this would be something illegal.

    Georg.

edit: Whow..this thread went way OT now :)
