Donate ONLY to those charities that have a solid reputation for providing aid such as the American or International Red Cross. Don't give anything to the Government of Haiti, Don't give anything to solicitation for money in the name of the Haiti disaster. Very little, if any of that money will get used to provide any help. Haiti is a classic example of how an oppressive Government has ruined its economy to create needless suffering of its people. That government is now in ruins along with the people. The coordinated effort needs to be sure that this aid goes to the needy and not the thugs that will be trying to take advantage of the disaster for their own personal gain. Therefore, it is a good thing that our military has gone in in order to provide the security and temporary infrastructure needed so this aid can quickly get to the people that need it and save lives in the process.
