Hi guys, I use All In One SEO for my blog. One of its options is "Use noindex for Categories" meaning that when it's checked, Google will not index my blog categories. No idea what to choose here. Should I leave my blog categories out of Google index ? Thanks
Sure! The more pages you have indexed the more visible your site is. I don't see a reason why you should disable indexing for your categories unless you have hundreds of nonsense categories set up.
Hi bryanon. There is a small text next to the check box saying that it is good for preventing duplicate content. So it could make sense eventually. I'm confused.
I will not make it noindex. I think, it may be like this a normal post - site.com/cat/apple/sweetapple/post.html A category page- site.com/sweetapple/ & it will contain all the post in that category. That's not a bad idea of get it index. IF you fear of duplicate content then make it no-index.
I apply no-follow to external links only! Internal links should be indexed and followed by bots. And if you want to remove the risk of duplicate content than use this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/no-duplicate-content/ .
