I looked around and saw that nobody mentioned this announcement, even though I think it's pretty important: Google is preparing to introduce a "Category Filtering" feature for publishers, meaning that from now on we'll all have a better control on the ads displayed on our sites. At the moment the service is in Beta testing, but I do hope that it will soon become available for all of us. So... what do you think about this? (You can read about the Adsense category filtering on my blog, but there's no extra info, though )
I just read about it. The idea is great, but what's to prevent spammy advertisers to just select irrelevant categories to avoid filtering? But at least it's more control.
this is a positive step for me. I hope this will cut out the need to filter unrelated ads individually!
And hopefully you won't have to look through the ads served every now and then. I just hope they make it possible have category settings per site (unlike the the advertiser blocking we have now).
From the official Adsense blog, it's just in limited beta right now: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2009/04/category-filtering-feature-being.html Most of us will have to wait to get it.
Sounds good to me. At least it gives a certain level of control for us to decide what kind of ads we want to appear. Hopefully it will live up to its expectations.
