    There are plenty about but it's highly recommended you build your own.

    Yeap. Always advisable to add categories manually because its good though it takes some time but you'll get good benefit in long run for sure IMO.

    I don't think that there is a dump available for the latest version, But it is strongly recommended that you keep the category structure unique and add value to the directory.

    I also agree, I learned the hard way, I build a category list myself on one site, and on another directory I used the category dump and my manually made site had a better result at the end.

    Yes, google say they don't use them in their algos any more but other search engines may.
