There is a sponsored TLD ".cat" which has an agreement whereby to own a .cat domain you must either be of the Catalan culture, or speak the Catalan language. Other exceptions are that you get recommended by three other .cat domain owners, or run a website with the purpose of promoting the Catalan culture / language. I truthfully don't intend on doing any of this, but I really do need to register a .cat domain. Some websites are known to be breaking the agreement such as meow.cat.. But I have seen one other domain; korat.cat which seem to offer the site in the Catalan language.. Could this allow me to register a .cat extension? If I were to offer the site in English and Catalan, and maybe even put a page up explaining the .cat domain and all that it stands for, do you think I would fit into the category of "promoting catalan culture / language"? Like I said, Meow.cat seem to get away with it without any reference to catalan, so surely if I make a sound enough reference, and offer catalan translation, I would meet the standards of the domain registration agreement? For Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.cat Thanks a lot for all help.. Chuckun
