Cash up Front???

I have been writing articles for a company for about two months. I am making decent money however I find I want to venture out some on my own. Here is my crucial question... Should I be paid up front in whole or in part before writing an article for someone? Or is it standard practice to write first pay later? As I have been thinking about responding to some posts here I want to know what is appropriate. Thank You !

write first paid later if its a great article they can give you a bonus if its rubbish they should pay you less.
Do they pay well? how many words per story?how many articles do you need to write a day to make a living?

If you're freelancing, get paid 100% up front via some sort of escrow system. If funds are in escrow, your buyer really won't have anything to worry about.

I think its totally depends on your relationship with clients. If its related to your returning clients then you can serve them first and then get paid. In first deal with client maybe they pay you 50% before deal and rest 50% after completed article.

I would suggest you choose your clients and only write for those with a lot of positive iTrader in the beginning stage. If it's elsewhere, then you get some deposit payment before you start with the writing project. This is just precautionary measures because there are some clients tend to delay when it's payment time.
