It's important to link to a reputable real news site if you want to be taken seriously.

The "Cash For Clunkers" program was a success. It's so sad that right wingers are so into their ideology that they can't deal with a government that works.

What's really crazy is giving the keys to the government to people who don't believe in government. Are they really going to know how to make it work? Of course not. Finally we have adults in charge who are interested in results first, ideology a distant second.

Japanese car makers are selling a lot of cars.

It didn't do too much to help the US. Car sales are going to car this winter.

Cash for clunkers created a lot more jobs in Japan than it did in Detroit.

But it still created Jobs I was hoping when the Cash For Clunkers program was written up they would specify that the cars that were purchased had to be American made.

It still can create jobs over time because people still need maintenance done on their cars and they have to take it shop to be worked on..

Cash fo Clunkers was an idea that made no sense then or now. It was feel good politics at its worst, and a major disappointment as far as I ma concerned.

Actually the old cars needed maintenance. The new cars will need less repairs and they will be on factory bumber to bumper for at lest a few years.

My only regret is that we didn't listen to the Republicans and use their plan instead.

    Oh wait.....

Cash for clunkers? What will be next? Cash for Houses? Cash for School, Cash for whatever.......Problem is where will all the cash be coming from? You can continue to print them but hyperinflation may result. Think Zimbabwe!

So, let me get this right, the MAXIMUM payout for bringing your clunker in was $4,500 and the AVERAGE payout was around $4,200.

So, our government was able to take a $4,200 payout expense and somehow ADD nearly $20,000 TO EACH CAR for disposal and their managing the program?

Amazing... and some of you guys want this same government managing healthcare...

Reminds me when I worked electronics in the Marines and had to order $200 capacitors that I could buy @ Radio Shack for $1 with the exact same tolerance specs.

Obama wasting $24,000/vehicle of taxpayer's money to pay for junk cars is idiotic.

What made it successful? The fact that people got the free money from the taxpayers?

The country would be much be better off if Obama gave a $24,000/small business tax reduction. That would actually cause something good to happen.

    What a moron.

Yes, what makes it successful. Other than people participated in the taxpayer give away thanks to the great generosity of the taxpayer.

I wish he would use his own money to piss away instead of taxpayer money.
