I recently compiled a case study about profile backlinks , Have a look at it http://soulwebworks.com/blog/why-i-think-profile-backlinks-dont-work/ do let me know what you think about it !
Interesting. I've always thought that profile backlinks have a bit less power in the as opposed to "regular" links. I've got nothing to prove so though, just a feeling.
I beg to differ. I just bought a 250 profile backlinks package on a new site. The only thing I did to promote my site was a pr release. This landed my site on page 5 for my target keyword. 2 weeks later i purchased the backlinks package. Within 2 days my site went page 5 to page 2 listing 13. I guess it works when you do them on a massive scale.
It works if google doesnt procesed the site. For example some forums and site for the url of profiles they have pr 5 no matter if it is just created. In this occasion google has identified that this url has no uniqueness thats why it gives the same pr to all profiles.Sneaky it doesn't keep it to n/a.If we think logical there is no way google takes that as a valid backlink. Moreover if you hit inurl operator with the url of profile page it will only show you one result and this in most cases is the first crawled = admin.
How relevant is your signature to this forum? Honestly relevancy is important but people are people, and they tend to have numerous interests vs only linking within their niche. This means someone who blogs about cars might link to a restaurant he/she likes...should Google discount that link? Obviously not, and although relevancy probably weighs heavier, we can't say for certain what is relevant, and what is not, such as your psp homebrew games. All we know is that you have voted and vouched for it (a backlink), in an authority website - digitalpoint. Now the responsibility lies with the webmaster of a site to filter out links, and if Google trusts the sites authority then there is nothing wrong with it.
