'Hope' would be my guess ep. - though Ive wanted to be a mod anywhere about as much as i want to be milk monitor or traffic warden, so I wouldnt actually know.

I disagree 100%. I *know* there is/ was a lot of quality content in there. That never was the problem. You cant look at a forum as being a place. Its 000s INDIVIDUALS - some get on, some dont, some know their stuff, some dont etc. Too many different agendas.

If my memory serves me correctly many of the members here were seochat members for a long while until dp landed, many still are. I am, you are and most others too. Active most arent anymore.

You gotta love dp because someone gave the keys to the asylum to the inmates ;)

    What the deuce?

This is the most pointless display I've seen in a long time. Might as well jump in, I guess.

    Yfs:

Why did you stay a mod as long as you did. Per your blog and my recollection you left modding after a couple of other mods left but before the big blowup.

Were you close to leaving earlier? Had you and other mods confronted ownership on the style of operating over time?

    Guess I'm just curious.

I had actually considered leaving much earlier but I really felt as though ownerships involvement was only temporary and things would return to the way they were....Or that maybe they would get the idea and start involving those people that had the most contact with members and could therefore offer some advice.

At one point I was modding over there 95% and posting 5% which meant I only had a handful of posts a week.

There is a huge difference in work load from DP. Here is seems to be the reverse and modding only takes 5% of your time which leaves you free to post. You also get a lot of respect from Shawn as a site owner (still no pay hehe), which means you don't mind helping out.

At that time many of the other Mods were following the same pattern so it didn't seem that out of place.

No. They reportedly had an epidemiologist (sp?) and a proctologist on call to do that.

    LOL:

And that is why DP is DP and Chat was chat and he spent up to 95% time modding there and virtually no time modding here.

Actually, on reflection, I'm pretty sure yfs1 was the staff proctologist. Perhaps when he returns he can confirm that.

Well I deal with you and you are one of the biggest asses around so I guess the description fits. :p

Seriously though, most of the modding done at SEOChat was because of two things:

1.) Ownership had a policy of no live links yet wouldn't provide a hack where they are non live by default
2.) Everyone posts in the Google section no matter what the question

The second happens here too but luckily it bothers Shawn too so he added an Ajax drag and drop which makes it really easy to move threads

I just wish I could get my 800 plus posts at SEO-Chat back...lol

And no I will not cut and past, to much work. Most of my friends went to Searchen.com, SeoRefugee.com or Here. By the way, this is for Rand Fishkin http://www.nogganews.com/2-08-06-seo.htm who left SEO-Chat at the same time I did.

I agree. It WAS a great place. I was a member there way before DP got to be what it is today. In those good old times there were really bright members that would always give you great answers. Egol, Dazzlindonna and Rustybrick are the ones that come to my mind.

But then they got a PR8, and boom, site exploded with ads all over the place. Then they started ading all kind of ridiculous stuff like karate belts and turning people with loads of posts into moderators. That would be like having Antonycea here as a moderator! No wonder they went down the drain :D

Pitty, but all the good members abandoned the site and now it is a joke. No real SEO takes seochat seriously now.
