Case Studies - Article Writing

I know there are a million threads already on article writing. Most of them have responses like "Yes, they work." or "Articles have increased my traffic".

I have submitted about 10 articles so far and have not seen much traffic yet from them. Perhaps I wrote articles on subjects that are boring or maybe they are just not very good.

Either way, what I was hoping was to maybe hear some case studies from other Webmasters. That is:

    1. How many articles have you submitted for a particular site.
    2. How long did it take to start seeing visitors from those articles.
    3. How many unique visitors a day do you estimate come from those articles.

    Example:
    1. Submitted 10 articles for my site.
    2. Took about a month.
    3. Has brought in an average of 200 visitors/day to my site.

Something like this. Anyone interested in sharing?

I've had a similar experience. Six quality articles submitted to numerous directories over a 4 month period and no discernable traffic.

I wrote an article. It got thousands of view...but maybe like 3-4 people actually visited my site.

Well, Digg.com is a whole other story. That's a site where thousands of users will click to go directly to your site to read the article.

Article submission sites are different, in that you are relying on the traffic to come to your site from the author bio links at the end of your article.

I'm having the same problem your having chopster. I heard to many good stories about writing articles to grain traffic so i decided to write one and i did last thursday and submitted it to about 30+ article directories and still not 1 hit from any of my articles. Well I made a list of article directories and will post it here, check it out.

Well, there's so many webmasters claiming how it works so great. I feel like maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Either in the submission process or perhaps the writing of the article itself.

Although, I do searches in Google and see that I get thousands of hits for my article, so I know that there are lots of webmasters picking it up. So it can't be that I'm just a bad writer (which I don't think I'm great, but at least better than some articles I've read on ezinearticles).

There's just no traffic. Like SVZ, I get thousands hits in Google, next to no visits though.

Maybe someone who has had luck with articles can make some sense of it.

I did that also. I submitted to a ton of submission sites to test out the traffic. Didn't get hardly a 1.

I've had pretty good luck with articles. For the past week I've had 136 unique visitors to my site (I'm only listing in MSN) 42 of those have been from ezinearticles.com and another couple from goarticles.com.

It's also been good to me for backlinks. Definitley depends on the topic, though. I've had other sites that don't pick up much traffic at all from articles.

There is a Yahoo article group that has worked well for me. Most of my articles I have written for it have been picked up and put on peoples websites. I have gotten some decent traffic from some.

I wrote 2 articles back in the beginning of the year and submitted to Ezine and Goarticles. One of the articles (which was significantly better written) was picked up by 3 high traffic sites and has resulted in about 200-250 unique visitors to my site each month since then - not a huge number but one I would consider successful for the amount of effort put in. It all depends on who picks up the article - I've also had hundreds of scraper sites and spam blogs pickup the article which has resulted in ZERO traffic of course.

I think it comes down to getting the article in the right place, making sure the article content is directly related to your site, and stimulates interest. What I mean but the right place is if your article is about cooking, make sure it will show up on a cooking site, or where lots of cooks will surf. Then to convert on that traffic, your site would need to be about cooking. The good thing about that is it will provide a decent backlink, and interested traffic. A few hits from good traffic is much better than many hits from uninterested traffic.

Your article may be relevant but it is not interesting.

After reading the title I am left thinking "who cares?" I know why IPods are popular and so does everyone who is interested in IPods.

If you want to get clicks to your site, you have to keep people engaged enough to actually read your article.

I am interested in where to get a discounted IPod, extra accessories for my IPod, in depth review of the newest IPod...but not why IPods are popular.

My advice would be to put a little more thought into what you are publishing and try again.
