Hi, I were not sure where to start this thread, but anyway. I use Casale, Valueclickmedia ads on my site where they are flash ads. I notice that alot of sites including mine that use these ads on their site to make some money, it ends up slowing the users/visitors computer down to a snails pace, well it does mine and my mates anyway. In other words if you are looking at a page with the ads on it and then you want to go to the next tab in your FF browser it will take ages to get to the next tab as it seems like it suck or something. Could you please give me any information on this and if there is a way to fix this problem. Could it be a server issue or do I have to install something on the server or is it a computer issue? I would like to know. Thanks!
Had the same problem. Switch to an iframe tag and you should be golden. I do not think Casale or Value Click Media have iframe tags only, but if you remove the javascript part that should work also.
I am just wondering why using an iframe tag will work. I notice some of the big players that shows these ads use iframes for them, like freeonlinegames, but I notice freeonlinegames site also does what mine does. But the ads are still showing on your site just through another page or something so it will still happen wouldn't it. I have had my site with these ads like it as it is for about 1 year now, I am just wondering how much traffic I have probably lost due to it.
I have just given you some reputation points. I have now used iframes and it works nicely. No more slow site or performance issues for my visitors anymore. I have a feeling that this issue was actually loosing me alot of traffic. It will now be nice to see how my traffic performs over the next few weeks. Thanks alot, this is something that I didn't know and am glad I have found out about using iframes for ads.
The iframe works by loading the ad code in its own frame. Since it loads in its own frame, it does not slow down the rest of the site or the users computer. Glad I was able to help.
Yeah, the pages load much faster now and the way that I want them to load also. The main page loads and then the ads. Great! Thanks!
So thing I would like to know though is that I have just made a created a new php file and then just inserted the ad code in it and then used an iframe on my site to link to it. Is this the way to do it as how will ValueClick and Casale know what ads to bring to my site as the iframes where the ads load have no content on them? Could I be breaking their TOS for doing this. I would like to do it very much because if I don't use iframes then it is just damaging my site and thousands of others on the Web due to the slowness and nearly crashing a visitors computer.
If you are going to do it that way, you might as well use an ad server to manage your networks. I just started to use a service called Max Media Manager. Since I have several private advertising deals, this service allows me to have advertisers manage their own account. MMM also allows tags to be generated within a php iframe. To learn more, check out their site at http://sourceforge.net/projects/max/
I have just got this from ValueClicks TOS: So I guess I am now breaking their TOS as the ads are on a page that has no content and then I am linking to that page through an iframe. Is this correct or have I got nothing to worry about. I need to know URGENTLY as these are VERY IMPORTANT advertisers for my site. Also, I would prefer to do it this way rather than using an ad server to manage my networks as I don't want to use any remotely hosted ad servers or I don't really want to put one on my own computer. I don't really need to know how many ad impressions I am getting as I trust these 2 companies. If I use an ad server then it means that there is more CPU overhead as the ad server will have to connect to databases and things while my way it just has to include the ads from a file, which is already created. Actually I already have an ads server on my site, but I don't want to include these ads into it if I can help it, unless I have to. The ads server that I currently have is: phpAdsNew
Since you are placing the ads on your site, it should not be an issue. A lot of sites use iframes and ad servers for ad serving. I've never heard of a publisher being suspended for using iframes. You can also e-mail Value Click Media just to verify with them.
Valueclick has some incredibly Godawful annoying ads that aren't just processor intensive, but also makes the visit very unpleasant. I ban all the advertisers that serve up those blinking ads, for instance.
Yeah, I get a few on my site, and have banned most of the blinking ads and the ones where you generated them about 100 clicks and only earn a few cents from it. They are normally the ads that blink or are well in your face. Also jackburton2006 do you think my setup with the iframes will be fine with both of the networks or am I doing it wrong and breaking their TOS. I have now contacted them about the issue and they should get back to me soon hopefully.
Since you are still serving ads to your site it should be fine. You can always contact your rep if you want to be absolutely sure though.
I am surprised that ValueClick doesn't specifically call out framing as against the T&C. I just checked, and a Ctrl-F on 'frame' and 'framing' came up empty on their T&C. All the other ad networks I use call it out as illegal without written permission.
So is what I am doing against their TOS as I am using iframes to show my ads. What do you mean by frame & framing?
No, I do not believe you are breaking anything. I know plenty of sites that do this. But, just to be safe, you can contact Value Click Media. Another option is for you to use an ad server and serve the ad in an iframe through your ad server; such like the one I suggested.
