What do you mean "canceling deals"? Do you mean they are terminating publishers? I'm with them, have been a while, and haven't heard anything.
I hope they are not cancelling their current publishers either as my impressions I have been sending to them has been going down every month and I have big plans for the site that it's on so the impressions will grow larger than what they have ever been for that site. Please comment on this and don't leave us in the learch.
I'm wondering how well run they are and whether internally anyone knows if they really know what they are doing. My understanding is that they canceled a deal with a very large player regarding Casale Media standards, which weren't shared. No conversation just notice saying they are terminating to be effective in a few days and see ya. It's like canceling a deal with Yahoo without trying to see why there may have been issues and without trying to find ways to continue doing business. From what I understand, they are interested in only US traffic and couldn't care less to figure out whether web sites can funnel the traffic they service or also have other web sites that are perhaps more suited. Many of the larger sites, like some I work with, use geotargeting and if that's not set right or there is a glitch, then the wrong traffic/information is sent. That can be corrected. But at Casale it seems they make determinations internally and done. It seems rather silly and I'd also be nervous as a publisher if they could just shut you off tomorrow without much time to make changes. I looked at their terms and it seems that it says that they can cancel you for any time and for no reason. They can send you an email to take your links off immediately and it's over. No reasonable prior notice requirement, etc. I'm not sure whether to take them seriously any more. There are other reputable players in the game and they also pay better...
I've never had a problem with them as of yet. They seem professional to me and I have been with them for well over 1 year.
If I may ask, what kind of traffic are you doing with them - you don't need to name the site(s). There is a first time for everything and I'm wondering what the future holds there.
I am only just getting over 30,000 pageviews a month with them now. I was getting around 80,000 pageviews a month, but my traffic has been on a downslide so I am just scraping the minimum. But I will be advertising the site much more soon so the traffic will go well over 80,000 pageviews a month soon. I think more than anything, you are likely to loose your account if you send impressions and you have a low CTR. Alot of people seem to think that if you don't have a good CTR with Adsenes or other CPC programs then CPM may be your solution. Just because you go CPM, doesn't mean that you don't need any clicks. You should try and still have an alright CTR.
That's what it was - but it's stupid to turn away a site generating tons of impressions that needed a cue that parts weren't optimized at the moment. Very, very bad for business.
The problem is, CPM companies have to keep their customers happy. I get enough impressions to stay in the program, but also have an average CTR. If it was just all about impressions and you didn't have to worry about the CTR then many sites would be getting more than 1 million pageviews a day from automated traffic, manual traffic exchanges, etc. just so that they can earn.
Yes, I understand this. But you don't tell a very, very large company you are terminating without having had a conversation first to discuss what underperformance they claim they are seeing with one site. It's difficult enough to get IN to such large companies and now they talked their way out - of this site and the others they obviously don't know about. So it goes. I decided against using them for the other sites we have. Plenty to go around and they don't even pay so well as others.
Casale pays much better than alot of them smaller CPM ad networks. I would say that Casale is still a tier 1 network. At one point I was earning much more from Casale than VCM. Although Casale defaults more that didn't really matter if I could earn more on a CPM basis as at the end of it I was chaining the defaults anyway. I understand what you mean by not discussing it with the company why they don't want to deal with the large site anymore, but I have always had good content with them so far.
I've been using Casale Media for some time now.. I have several sites running their ads. A month or so ago, they emailed me in regards to some ads that were placed against their terms of service. Last I looked, their TOS was a bit difficult to find. Anyway, it was an honest mistake - and they sent me a warning. I removed the ads and everything was fine. However, there were some ads that I had missed. Twice! When all was said and done, they didn't cancel my account and worked with me to understand anything I hadn't understood (in regards to their TOS) before. I like Casale Media and I recommend them all the time. Their ads don't slow-down my page loads, they always pay on time and I've never had a complaint...
Casale Media sent nothing except for a termination notice of a few days, no prior warnings, etc. which made the whole thing even more amazing. An absolutely amazing series of events. I've made sure not to use them for any of my sites or partner sites as a result.
I would contact them if I were you. I contacted them yesturday as I had a concern after what you said as my site that actually has them on if not going to quite get enough unique visitors to their ads this month, when I thought it would. This is mainly because I have been working on other sites instead of this one. I had a reply about 6 hours later saying that my account is in good standing and for me not to worry about it. My AM said that if something ever does happen then he will contact me to let me know. I just guess you have had some bad luck.
