Looking for someone that can create those cartoon looking characters out of actual photos.

    Example:

    http://www.mizpee.com/web/index.html

If you can, please show me some of your work and your rates.

Making cartoons out of photos? Can you explain it better, or post more examples? As for me, you can click on my signature to see what I do, although I have a more realistic style. Colouring can be made in that style.

What I mean is taking a photo of someone (like myself) and creating a cartoon looking character, like the example website i listed.

The one on that website, Is not a Cartoon looking character from a real photo. It is merely and skillfully drawn with the pentool and other tools.

Although, you can " cartoon " a real photo but this is called Vectoring.

As you can see here -

That's basically using the Auto Trace option featured in common vector application programs like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator, no skillset whatsoever involved in it, although I've done a couple of works like that a couple of years ago when there was no Auto Trace available and everything had to be done with the pen bezier tools. My portrait is just an example.

But I believe the OP is asking to somewhat "caricaturize" or "cartoonize" someone from photos. If that's the case, PM me with further details and I'll give you some rates.

so should i call it a vector drawing instead of a cartoon?

just to hopefully clarify, i'm not looking for someone to take the actual photos and make them into vectors/cartoons but rather use the photos and create a vector/cartoon character that resembles the person in the photograph.

Yes, Live trace isn't a vector as of such - I was on about using the pentool and shit loads of layers.. then you have yourself a vector.
