seo field is quite dynamic field and is fast growing. if you talk of India then i will say that there is a dearth of SEO professionals and those who are doing it out of them only about 40% (unfortunately) know the tactics.

Now the time is Conversion Optimization Anyone can bring traffic towards website, by writing blog comments, bookmarking, forum posting... even his website have no rank in SE. You need to read about Usability and conversion opimization to convert your visitors into customer.
Not this time every body know the SEO. Every body know SEO since last 1 year. But people getting projects and they are working in SEO.
SEO is probably the internet job that will grow the most during an economical recession. But a good SEO will have math skills. SEO Consulting it's not just titles, descriptions, keywords, and building links. You have to be able to make reports based on data you gathered and provide estimates as for results. But you should go as a web consultant and not just seo consultant as a career

It will not die. But, the need for SEO experts will be reduced because most of the web masters become aware of the tactics.
No really true. Allow me to give you some ideas. Though I dun know where you are from, but for example in your local market, there are many companies that went into google adwords. Some companies I know of paid 300K per month through ppc. Now, if an seo consultant comes along, paint the picture of a cost saving in this tumultuous time and help them get #1rank in google using seo tactics which proves higher conversion than the right paid listing, is there a big market for seo consultants? The problem lies with creativity and wheter we know how to tap on the market locally. Many companies are still offline! Regards, Jerry
SEO sector is growing because of the increase in the number of websites . But now days it had become more data entry job rather than any technical job
There is undoubtedly a saturation of the industry, but there are a lot of junk SEOs who will be weeded out. There will always be a need for SEOs, mostly because there are a lot of business owners who focus on their business, not SEO. There is a lot of information to take in, and many business owners simply don't have the time to do all that research. Web developers may take the place of SEOs, but there still is a need for the service, in my opinion.
