I have never seen a requirement for a pure js programmer. usually what companies need are people with mixed skills ie php, mysql, js, html. css, .net, java. oracle etc
that may be. However you asked a question and I told you what I think. So don't tell me that I am wrong because in animation they use a lot of js. If you are that knowledgeable then why do you ask this question in the first place?

I've never seen pure JS alone as just a requirement, but I wouldn't doubt that's a possibility in the future with the direction HTML5 is heading and these lazy programmers universities are spitting out and call it "specialization".
