Card Declined

    Hello,

Well, i was running campaigns as usual on my adwords account...and just suddenly the ads stopped showing. I had not reached my daily budget and everything was just fine when ads just stopped showing. This happend, sunday night. I waited until the next day, everything just remained the same.

I decided to open a new account, and just as usual i went through the billing preferences to enter my cc details e.t.c., and i got this ' Card Declined '.

Has anyone got this before? Do you know why it would happen?

Ive mailed adwords, no reply as yet.

    Thanks!

Have you checked you have sufficient funds in your credit card account? Maybe something you paid for and forgot about?

Hmm...no actually let me explain.. That account is less than 30 days old and i believe google charges you 30days after you start the campaign.

In addition i have been using the ' google vouchers ' which i obtained from somebody. It gives you like $52 when you redeem the code.
And my campaign has not exceeded that amount, so in all, they havent charged my card at all.

Apparently they tried to, since you got a "card declined" message. I would just wait back to hear from them as they will be the best people to explain to you why.

Go to credit card section and add another card. It will charge you another.

This is NOT the case. Google will allocate you an amount at their discretion, for example, $100 credit. Your account will be allowed to accrue until it hits that credit limit, then your card is charged the amount. If you have insufficient funds, your account is temporarily suspended until you pay.

    hmm,
okay in my previous enquiries with google about other questions, they had mentioned :

When you create and activate your Google AdWords account, Google charges
you a one-time US$5 activation fee. Then, we set your initial US$50 credit
limit. Google charges you after 30 days or when you reach your credit
limit of US$50, whichever comes first.

So, i have not reached my $50 limit on that account and it hasnt been 30 days. Therefore i wasnt charged.

Okay i havnt mentioned something else.
I do have a few more accounts (about 2 ) with them, and with all , i filled with voucher codes.

So like account 1 will be the one we are talking about above, which in which i havnt reached $50 nor has it been 30 days.

account 2 , reached about $68 and i had filled it with voucher of $50, meaning i have $18 to pay. this account has only been 3 weeks old.

account 3, reached $110 , and i had initially filled it with $100 voucher code, therefore the total left to pay is $10.

as you can see in all 3 accounts, i have not exceeded 30 days, nor have i reached their $50 limit on those accounts to be charged.

I used same card on all accounts.

Still what would cause my card to decline :S

Use your original account and work out the slow/lack of activity with G.

    A lack of funds! lol!

If you read the fine print with those accounts you will no doubt find that you may only use the voucher once, as a new customer. That does not mean once per account but once, as in once only, ever. A one-time offer for one account only, once.

Therefore, by my calculations based on the figures you have provided, you have been billed probably in the region of $178, ergo, your credit card has hit its limit and you will have to pay it off before you can use Adwords again.

Hmm...something tells me your not right...for some reason.....also because i wasnt always using the vouchers from the same promotion. I also got vouchers from two different promotions and i clearly remember , in one ocassion where google clarified, i may use more than one voucher in an account IF they came from different promotions.

You are banned from Adwords plain and simple.

Multiple accounts are a no-no with adwords, and using multiple vouchers across those accounts is an obvious attempt to exploit the intended use of the vouchers.

yeh i guess thats what it comes down to now. Im waiting for a reply regarding the 'card declined' issue, but i have got a reply about why the ads werent showing up :-

'Thank you for your email. Google maintains a high standard for the
quality of our advertisements and our user experience. We have recently
    determined that you (or your
business) have maintained or are currently maintaining multiple
AdWords accounts simultaneously serving ads for similar or related
    keywords and/or businesses.

In addition, our records indicate that some or all of these accounts
were opened using promotional coupons limited to one redemption per
individual or business. We ask that you refrain from creating
additional accounts using other AdWords promotional coupons that you
may already possess or obtain in the future.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

I'd grab your card. Turn it over so you are looking at the back of it. There is a phone number on it. Pick up the phone and call that number. Turn the card around so you have the account number ready. Go through the prompts till you get to "account balance and available credit." You should have the answer to your original question in under 2 minutes.
