Go to Google zeitgeist site or Adwords Center and you'll find info from there.

Yeah, nothing comes easy by this time. It takes a lot of hard work. The persistent and consistent will win in the long run.

The reason that "car insurance" is a high-paying keyword is that there are many thousands of sites competing for position for the keyword. If you build a site, you'll be in competition with all of those other sites for the same keyword. Getting traffic to your site will be a real challenge. Even if the keyword pays $10 a click, if you don't get traffic, it won't matter. And even if you get traffic, you also have to get clicks and a decent CTR.

I have one too, and the pay is about the same. I make much more money on lower paying keywords that are easier to get traffic for. The fascination with "high paying" keywords is a waste of time for most webmasters. It's better to have UNIQUE keywords.

Once again, the problem with high-paying keywords is that there is competition, and lots of it. Your chances of getting enough traffic to make any money is slim. Nothing is easy or simple. There are no "secrets."

I have a number of insurance websites (life, health, travel, etc) with very low traffic but clicks averaging $1.

you can definitely break into the search results. While it is a fairly competitive niche, we recently launch our HealthPlans.com affiliate program and our initial affiliates are gettgin good rankings and traffic, so there is still room in this niche.
