Hello.I can't use internet through some VPN services although I can connect to them. They are Open VPN and PPTP and have the same problem.I have other VPN services(Open VPN,L2TP,PPTP) that work fine.I contacted an admin from one of these and he said their servers work alright,so it's a problem with my computer.I sent a ping in their server and I got the response - destination host unreachable.I have Windows XP SP2 and a broadband connection through fiber optics using PPPOE.Can you help me? Thank you.
what the error number you get when connection failed ? and can you share us what the VPN sites worked with you and who didn't ?
I don't get error connection, they connect just fine. The problem is I can't make any traffic through them. They are Open VPN and PPTP.I know it's a problem client side, not server side.
Are you using OpenVPN or PPTP on the client side ? Can you see the private IP interface on your side ? (ipconfig/all) Regards Thibaut
This doesn't seem to be a VPN issue as your private interface is enabled. Therefore neither authentication and filter (firewall) are causing the issue. I would probably go for an IP routing problem. Can you ping the local VPN interface ? Can you ping the remote VPN interface ? And you didn't tell me what VPN client you are using on your side. This is vital as their is a very tricky issue with one of it. Regards Thibaut
I told you, they are PPTP and Open VPN,but I don't understand what do you mean by local and remote interface. Thank you.
The local interface is the virtual card on your computer. The remote interface is the virtual card on the server. Both have been enabled by the VPN system leading to the activation of the VPN tunnel and should have a private IP address, ie 192.168.x.y, 10.x.y.z or 172.16.x.y If you use both VPN clients and you successfully connected the server, you should have at least 3 interfaces on your side: - One for your LAN (going to the Internet) - One for OpenVPN - One for PPTP Those interfaces must carry different IP addresses or else you will mess the IP routing which I presum could be the cause of the issue. So what you should do is: - ping the OpenVPN local interface, the one on your side. Fetch the information using ipconfig - ping the OpenVPN remote interface, the one on the server side. Do the same with the PPTP interface. Regards Thibaut

I am using the service vpnmessenger . com which allows to surf voip and messenger between your contacts
Pinging the server does not mean much as the ping response is probably turned off to prevent denial of service attacks. If you are authenticating to the VPN server but can't route than your route is likely being blocked on your computer. Not knowing what services you are using make sit difficult to diagnose. I use a personal vpn service and have several accounts and log in over and over again without issues. Even PPTP over OpenVPN works fine.
