I have a pretty high quality site that gets about 1000 visitors a day on average. I just can't seem to break that (unless it makes it on social bookmarking sites). I try to add new unique content everyday. What are some techniques I can use to get more traffic (besides gaming the social bookmarking sites). It is a education related website and I haven't really spent any $ on marketing. Any ideas? Thanks.
keep in mind that it could be that you're reaching the heights of the keywords you've targeted. I couldn't break 300 visits per day for one site, but my main keyword only had about 200 searches per day or less.
Well my site seems to rank well in google. I haven't tried commenting on other blogs, maybe I'll try that.
Effort is the only thing required. Word hard, write great content, spend lots of time telling people about your site.
You ranked well in Google for what keywords? Ranking well for keywords that are not being searched is equivalent to nothing though.
The 1000 visitors a day......... What are you doing with them? I mean are these unique visitors or are they returning visitors. If you can't break 1k visitors a day you should focus on the traffic you ARE getting. If you are getting 1000 uniques a day....depending on your content you should be making a decent living. With 1000 uniques a day, you could easily add 10 subscribers to your email list. Do you have an opt in form on your site? At only a 0.5% optin rate...that would give you 5 subscribers per day. That adds up to 150 per month and 1800 subscribers a year. (by the way, a 0.5% optin rate is very conservative and do-able) With just one year you could have a highly targeted opt in subscriber list that you can market to. Just think about that. 1800 people getting your message in front of them every month. I know you are looking for more visitors. But if you have reached a plateau, you need to focus on what you can do with those visitors. If you don't have a way to bring them back....then yes...1000 visitors a day isn't enough. Just some food for thought.
Try cross promoting from other sites in your niche. Some good link exchanges for traffic would probably work. Buying a few links on some thematically linked websites that aren't your direct competition. That should help bump you up some. Just keep getting links coming in to your site. Remember it's not always about what you do TO your site, but what you do off your site(ie generating external links) that is more important.
Well I have an opt in newsletter, with 150 subscibers so far...seems to get a couple sign ups a week. I send out a newsletter maybe once every 3 months. Maybe I'll create a free ebook that requires the user to sign up for the newsletter or something. I need to generate more keyword ideas too. Since I am looking for college aged visitors, maybe I can tap into the facebook market or something.
Depend on your niche. If you have an entertainment site, create a video and promote it on YouTube works quite well. But it's always hard to create a new video with interesting content. If your site is like an online store, SEO and article marketing work great. Social bookmarking sites is also a good way to get more traffic although for most niches, visitors from SB do not convert well.
