    Hi

    Im tring to remove a folder and its subfolders. I have noticed that there is a .htacces file with the text ;

    Anyone knows how to override this using telnet or maybe a ftp client?

    i think you can set it to show .htaccess files (hidden files) with your ftp client, i think you need to send a command or summing, it something like -h, but im really not sure.

    cant ya just delete it then?

    or

    create a new .txt file and leave it blank, save it as .htaccess and upload to that directory and that should (fingers crossed) overwrite it.

    If not contact the one who host your site.

    im not sure about the order means but allow/deny does what its says allows/denys websites/ips from visiting parts of your site or files.

    if it helps this little example would deny ip address 222.222.222.222 from accessing any directory this is placed and would show a 403 error

    <Files 403.shtml>
    order allow,deny
    allow from all
    </Files>

    deny from 222.222.222.222

    You probably do not have permission to delete this file. As another poster said, you can just create a text file with the same name and replace it. You should be very careful with deleting or replacing the htaccess file unless you know what is in it and what it is doing. There is no reason to delete it if it is empty.

    I guess we are moving into the wrong direction . Im aware of what it does i just cant delete the folder in the directory. To make a long story short i ll contact the host and ask them to delete the file.

    how I do it: I download leechFTP, and then when I login, I can chose the option Recursive Delete. That deletes all subfolders and files, including hidden files.
