ok, i have had my domain hosted at downtownhost.com for the last 3 years.
i forgot my password to log in to the billing so i can pay but downtownhost.com's request password fails. i try live chat and their ticket system but they just close my ticket without an answer, like wtf is going on.
what am i meant to do now? is there any legal action i can take? im a customer and i just want to pay for my domain  jorge the owner from downtownhost.com is a great guy, its the people that works for him that lets that site down.
ok so downtownhost.com will not forward my domain to godaddy, now i cant pay, whats the deal? what can i do?
its a top level domain, high ranking, my site will be stuffed without it.
sorry, no offense to that hosting place, but im feed up with the ticket closing on me with no reply. what can i do about this please?
thanks for those that can help.

EDIT: ah god, i just checked the domains owned by that place, they have dropped in the hundreds in the last 3 years, wow, thats scary.

EDIT: AHHH they just deleted my ticket, i took screen shots before it happened.

So you mean you have not logon to the billing area in the 3 years?
If yes, then it mean you have not paid your domain fee for 3 years.
Their system already delete your account then.

nope, i pay every year for my domain. last login was the start of this year.
why would they delete an account where i pay my domain? you would think if the domain had expired then yeah, cause it would be canceled. but its active!
if a person paid for a domain for 5 years, why would there be any need to login in that time? change nameservers yeah. so what 5 years later the account is deleted.

downtownhost.com have an old domain panel and the billing is separate, i can access my domain panel fine if i want to. its the billing account i need to log into

thats just it, i have requested new password over 10 times, its not working.
thats why i made the ticket, saying the password reset is not working.
but my ticket got deleted, i have screen shots to prove it. i have made another ticket and it keeped getting closed, but now its just sitting on hold.
with the password reset, i type in my email and it says its been reset but i never get the email.

ummm.. this is a messy situation. Only other option i can see you doing is.. if you can log into the control panel.. redirect your old website to a new one under a different hosting server.. so that anyone going to your old website gets redirected to the new one.

I agree. Call them on the phone. If you do not get it resolved or have no confidence in their ability to help you, backorder the domain using another registrar. I use Godaddy.com. Backorder is about $18, but it includes the 1-year renewal fee. I have used this approach several times with 100% success. Good luck.

thanks, you mean buy a new domain and redirect it? sorry for not fully understanding.

thanks guys, i will do this, as i cant call USA from Australia. my phone line will not let me.
after a domain expires, even if i do back order it, i still have to wait 27 days before i can use it, true or?
    thx

not only will you probably have to wait, but there is no guarantee that you will get the name.

Try to contact them other ways. Try to call using SKYPE.

I'm going to put a message in to Jedito to have him come over and take a look at this thread as well. Maybe he can help you.

One way to get their attention is to communicate with them through postal mail or FAX exposing your situation. Give them 10 days to give you an answer or you will take legal action against them. Contact a lawyer from USA and put him to work for you. If your domain worth that much... you should do it asap or you will lose it.

Since they deleted your tickets and don't even care about you... at least apparently, don't trust them anymore. They may want to take your domain. Just my 2 cents.

I contacted Jedito via email with a link to this post; his pm box was full. He's usually pretty good at taking care of things. Hopefully he'll make it by soon. Good luck and best wishes.

    Hello Lazza

Your account has been canceled because you left over $200 without payments for over a year, you took advantage of me saying always that you were going to pay the next month (for 4 or 5 months), and then finally a day you moved all your domains to another host and did not paid any bill, I tried to contact you many times about it, and you always ignored our emails, your domains are not registered through us anymore because they were not renewed (since you did not paid for it) and at this point I'm not interested in have you as a customer anymore.
I hope this clear things up to everybody else, you already knew this Lazza.

Note Aside: I wont follow this thread anymore, therefore I wont read any response.

I just found additional information about this. You owe us $282 since 2008/05 there is included the renewal of the past year for your forum domain, that you NEVER paid, therefore, the domain had to be expired the past year, for an error in our side the domain was accidentaly renewed, but I repeat, you NEVER paid for it, nor for the other debt for which you always got a reminder every month and you always ignored, since you already changed the nameservers to HG, also, you had access to change the whois information of your domain, but for some reason you left my information there (which is how is set by default).

I was looking a bit deeper on this, and the domain was not accidentaly renewed, it was renewed because you promised that you were going to pay us for it. but how odd, you never did it.

Lazza: if Downtownhost is right, you screwed them up, and you got screwed. If he is wrong, and you have proofs of payment for domain renewal (which is mostly an invoice in an email), you can do a legal case against them with ICANN, and they'll help you out. Hope you never delete your emails :p

Downtownhost: So you got ripped off $282, and how did you trust a stranger and renewed a domain for them, and after you knew that its not paid, you didn't do anything? You could have just changed the nameservers.

He was a customer who have payment problems in the past, but he finished paying, but the last time, he moved to hostgator, left two month without paying he told us that he wanted to come back with us (he did not canceled the account before anyway), made us move data, split accounts (from addon domains to their own shared packages), make changes, and after that, he moved again to hostgator, he never paid again, did not contacted us either leaving 11 unpaid invoices. As I said, he have access to modify the whois information (on where the transfer request would be sent, otherwise he would not be able to change the nameservers either since the whois information is changed on the same panel on where the nameservers are) but for some reason he left my information there.

Well, OP, if you have access to change the domain information, then get the EPP/Autorization code and transfer the domain to another registrar like Name.com

lol, this has to be the biggest load of crap i have ever read. you didnt contact me once. these are just posts covering their ass. i have paid invoices showing i paid my domain, as if it renewed its self, what a load of crap man really. come on, i only owed $22.95 USD and downtownhost know that. after they found out i moved server and NEW i was no longer with them as i told them in LIVE CHAT. after that i tried to move my domain to godaddy as they had an offer on, as godaddy always does lol. but downtownhost.com would not forward the domain because i owed $22.95 on a server i used WHICH I PAID.
    http://i42.tinypic.com/15ehhlj.jpg
    http://i43.tinypic.com/2w74cyd.jpg
again no answer to my ticket.
As i said i told Diego at downtownhost.com that i am no longer with them but they still charged me a month after for a server i wasnt using which again was only $22.95. and yes i will be honest, in the ticket when i asked them why they wouldnt move my domain to godaddy, they said about the total owing and i said "ONCE" i couldnt afford the $22.95 at the time,
    http://i40.tinypic.com/15gpj4y.jpg
    http://i43.tinypic.com/bja71t.jpg
STILL they new at that time i was not with them. and again they were trying to charge me for a month i was not even using the server and they new i had left. But i thought to my self, maybe i went a few days over in the month and maybe i do owe them the $22.95, "SO I PAID IT" and made another ticket which they never answered!
after that they kept on sending invoices, not one at a time, but 6 to 8 at a time. downtownhost.com of course knew i was NOT with them, but month by month after the invoices kept on coming, coming and coming. the last invoice i looked at had gone up to $230, this was over 12 months later for gods sake. after many attempts of contacting them, i was never answered. then suddenly one day the invoices stopped. mind you the invoices were DATED BACK TO 1969, I WASNT EVEN BORN THEN.
Please note: the above that i have just wrote, i am not trying to convince anyone to stay away from downtownhost.com, im not like that, im a honest person and always have been. i must say when i first joined downtownhost.com, they even installed my vbulletin when i new nothing about the software and that was back in the start of 2006, very good of them. i had no issues with their servers, the only reason i moved is because the server was to slow because i live so far away, so i moved to a faster host.
all i want is to be able to pay my domain and move on, i have many domains with downtownhost and pay them every year, why cant i pay for this one? whats the difference? out of 6 domains. and what does an old server got to do with my domain account. i just want to login and pay for my domain, mmmm looks like downtownhost have deleted where i pay for it, thats a bit harsh.
it sux i never even got an answer to my tickets,
this was the ticket that was deleted
    http://i42.tinypic.com/14vgt4o.jpg
    then i tried again.
    http://i39.tinypic.com/2v3q7ir.jpg
    no answer.
strange the live chat got hidden from me after this.
by the way if anyone is taking notice of the dates, we are a day ahead here, it the 26th

@ campolar, downtownhost will not forward my domain, i have tried.

this really is like downtownhost is trying to punish me or something, this really isnt fare in anyway, if downtownhost.com was an honest company, they would forward my domain or reply to my tickets with a link to where i can pay my domain like my other 6 domains. i paid for my domain every year, i have every paid invoice to that domain, proof it didnt pay for its self like downtownhost.com says it did. like who would honestly believe a domain paid its self like said above.
by the way, i made a post at webhosting talk or what ever its called asking for advice, and i was banned by downtownhost as one of them must be a mod there. thanks for that downtownhost.
EDIT: not so long back i sold a domain to a friend, we tried to get support from downtownhost to put it in his name, they wouldnt do it, we had to let it expire and i gave him his money back. its a sad world. a customer should NOT be treated like this, where not at high school, 2 mates having a fight, where not kids. your a top business now act professional about it.

@ campolar, thanks for the advice, i have the paid invoice paid in 2008. campolar you can see something shifty going on here cant you? something isnt right in what downtownhost is saying.
downtownhost, now is your chance to make a mend, please send password to my email, thanks.
invoice of payment made to my domain 12 days before it was going to expire: http://i40.tinypic.com/11izqew.jpg
