Submit and forget. That is the best advice... If you've submitted to the correct cat then there is nothing more you can do accept sit around and wait, and that my friend can take years.

Just move on and promote your site by other means. If/when an editor gets to it they will review it and either accept it or reject it. You'll not be told either way so there is really no point in bothering with DMOZ once you've submitted.

    Best of luck!

That's a very popular subject for sites these days and the category does get a lot of submissions, it may be a while not just a couple of days before your site gets looked at. Promote your site elsewhere, as Q said, you can do nothing to speed up when it is reviewed by an editor and perhaps listed, we reserve the right not to list a site. Though I do have to say that, after a quick glance at your site I would get those "coming soon" sorted before an editor looks at it. Our guidelines do say "If a web site is still under construction it is not a good candidate for the Open Directory."

I don't edit in that section but I do wonder how many similar sites we shall list when we look for "unique content" and many sites seem very alike to me. But as I said I don't typically edit there and those who do the editing make the decisions by looking at the sites carefully and understanding the section more than I do.

Dmoz takes for ever and there site was down for months, but when you list list like you found the site and want to recommend it.

If what you are saying in the latter half, why did I not list the site then
    1. Because for me it is in a Q for editors who understand the section I don't edit there.
    2. Asking here will not promote a site
    3. All I can do is list a site, adding some note from me would change its status and could slow it down, there is no way that I would, though I can't, add anything to speed it up.

Interesting how you waste your time telling people about a pants directory. They may as well waste the same time submitting, you never know they might be lucky! Strange they feel lucky if they get in but think its rubbish, pants, waste of time if they can't.

Hence the "forget to submit" for many that have waited years to get a listing the few minutes it took too submit WAS a waste of time, especially when they see editors saying that they rather just see the submission process turned off, or that some editors do not even use it. In many cases where the submission process is overlooked by those editing this or that cat, makes the submission process in that cat a waste of resources no only for the submitter, but for DMOZ as a whole.

And with the nearly complete lack of communication to the outside world, to those waiting months or weeks often feel like they have wasted their time. It's nothing against those that do work daily for the directory ya know...its just against the machine in general.

Especially in the area you used to edit, well for just a couple of hours. You didn't wait long to get your site listed did you and left all the other poor webmasters waiting and waiting and waiting.....perhaps for years.
