Hello, I am trying to get a higher rank in Google for Webmaster forum. I have higher ranks for other keywords but not that one. I have "Webmaster Forum" in the title. According to Backlinkwatch I have more than 9,000 backlinks, which is more than other forums have which are ranked higher. I think I should at least be on the 2nd page. Could it have anything to do with PR and that I have not had a PR update since the forum was created?
It is most probably because i am guessing "webmaster forum" is a highly competitive keyphrase. Also if your forum is a lot newer than other forums these forums will not only have their on page and off page SEO they have done themselves but with increased members and communication they will have all the input from the members plus because its a webmaster forum i am guessing many of the admin or people who run the forum know a little or two about SEO therefore implement it themselves on the forum too. Wait a while mate, be patient and keep trying.
Hi, i think keyword "Webmaster forum" is very competitive so you need some quality links and also doing some high pr blog post and blog roll & SMO...
It is not just the number of backlinks that count for ranking in the search engines. First of all you should check how many unique domains or class C IPs are pointing to your site. Also how many backlinks are using the anchor text 'webmaster forum' or keywords derived from that anchor text. You should also see if you are getting sites related to 'webmaster'; this is needed to build authority in your field. Age of your domain is also needed to build trust.
Yes it's competitive phrase. The links from other webmaster high paged rank and topic-related sites would be useful. Try to post on competition forums then
