I can't get FTP to work on my computer anymore. It was working fine a few days ago but now none of my sites connect anymore. I have used coffecup FT< core FTP, FTP commander, onlineFTP and none of them connect to any of my sites.

Umm have you considered it might be something with your server? You might also have done something wrong, tried to access inaccessable files/folders that got you blacklisted on the ftp server?

Post the error message that you get - easier to diagnose that way.

Are you behind a firewall? Check and make sure your firewall or router if you're on one isnt blocking port 21.

    Can you ping the domain?

I have norton and I turned it off. I disabled all firewalls on my computer.

I went to another computer in the building and the FTP works fine. All the ocmputers use the same IP address etc.

But for some stupid reason, my FTP abilities came to a grinding hault two days ago and I have no clue. NO file upload nothing. I hate to sound like an Eminem fan, but this is really gay.

So your computer is definately the culprit then.
Either you're blocking that site - or the site is blocking you ^_^
    try using dos
    or a browser to ftp

    ftp://userid@ftp.domain.com

input your password when it prompts you.

I can't get any of my sites working. I have 5 sites from different hosting providors and none of them FTP on my computer using 5 different FTP programs. I tried using the browser FTP and I get a message saying 'server name or address cannot be resolved'

can you browse to the domain with your browser? have you tried a tracert? Or maybe port 21 got blocked somehow.

Yea the domains are working. I didn't try a tracert. How would the port get blocked? Is there anyway to tell if the port is blocked?

I dunno how it'd get blocked, but I guess its possible. Open up your ftp program and try to connect. do a netstat /a command from the a command prompt and see if it tells you something. I'd also try a tracert see if it says anything. I dunno. That's a weird issue though.

It is unusual-I have never had this problem b4. I'll probably take it to Best Buy and get someone to look at it. Maybe reinstall windows.

yeah - sounds like 21 is definately blocked if its happening for all 5 sites and they are at different providers.

Have you considered it might be some kind of misc. program running on your computer which is causing this problem?
Your kinda right, but maybe his own ISP has some problems, umm like, you over the bandwidth or something..

PS: I never heard about port blocking, but obviously it does exist.. Oh and you might wanna double check your username and password :D

Can you try telnet and check whether the connection is getting established?
