If you see the domain thread ive created here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=67884 I cant edit the original post within the thread. I have identical posts at namepros, dnforum, sitepoint etc...all of which allow you to edit the original post so potential buyers can see any updated details for sale including domains sold, price changes etc. Ive had to create this thread twice at DP in order to show the latest details of my ongoing sale, and ill probably have to create it a third time pretty soon. Why can I edit the original post in threads?
I can edit posts at all the other forums i mentioned days after the original posting...months in fact. It makes no sense to set a time limit on an ongoing domain name sale such as the one i posted. Perhaps individual forums can be tweaked?
This isn't other forums... no clue how they work. For here, you can edit a post within 8 hours of it being made.
Good to know about the 8 hours rule...handy to know. Still though i cant understand why you would want essentially duplicate threads with duplicate content with minor changes...much better to change the details in the original post i would have thought...takes less space and makes the boards a tidier. Why shouldnt you be allowed to change prices? If for instance something isnt selling at your original price and you wanted to drop the price...again that should be a simple edit to your original post. Anywayz its good to know about the 8 hour timer.
Create new threads? Why not just reply and post the new information? Seems to work pretty good that way.
Agree!... I faced this problem a few weeks ago but the only I could do was made what Nintendo suggested Just posted another updating the original
Exactly that is what others do and also as someone said it keeps you from changing the overall price of the site as you see interest building.
