There is this one domain, above mine in the serps, i cant seem to pass it, it ranks above me for every term (#1), im always #2. As far as i can tell it only has the AGE factor over me, it has 7k links, i got 15k.

His site is 1.5 years older then mine, (3 years) .. any ideas on how i can knock em down ;)

Do some anchor text bombing on your site.

start back link production from the good site that are same as your site, or buy some link from the high traffic directory.

If you limit the links to a few hundred then its only a small percentage compared to the 15k he has already.

Check for the differents between the 2 sites , for backlinks, page age, pagerank and so on and look for where the other site is better ! then try to make your site better then his !

also onsite SEO is recommended for clean comform codes

and ofcourse alot alot of backlinks with nice anchors for the keyword he ranks better then you :)

This is the age factor i believe. Well i guess the only way is to get few very very strong back links ideally in your own niche.

Try purchasing from a few authority sites. Get links from authority hubs. If you're trying to rank for "Blue Widget" get links with anchor text just "Blue" or just "Widget".

The easiest way seems to be - buying a high quality related backlinks + the right anchor text.

what is your title tag and what is your competitors?

for your keyword that you want to rank for - even increasing the prominence of the keyword(s) and the density (but still keeping it natural) within the title tag could make the difference

Interesting - why not buy that domain/site? ;)

Seriously age factor is one big advantage for a competitor but you can dodge it by,
    - getting as many as "quality" links with proper anchor text.By quality i mean, related websites, with links from articles that are related to your sites content.
    - doing intensive keyword saturation.

But hoenstly, im assuming that this should work - it may go wrong though. No guararantee here.

I agree that getting authority links is probably your best bet. Still, being no. 2 isn't bad. Patience and keeping up the good work may do the trick as well.

For now you could also focus on getting more out of the long tail by getting to no. 1 for keyword1 keyword2 (and variations). If you have more backlinks than they do, they're probably not actively SEO-ing and should be beatable on the longtail in the short run and on this precise keyword in the long run as well.

Don't do keywords stuffing, but you can optimize your internal link-structure for the keyword you are aiming at. Get some of the pages on your site that have most links to them pointing linking with the right keywords to the page you want to just jump to that no.1 spot.
