Can't access certain websites?

I can access the internet, and certain websites. Although I cannot access www.oshq.com (My web host) or any of my pages that are hosted on the server.

I can access them from another computer (My friends) but I can't on any computer in my house. I am not behind a router, just connected to the modem.

Whenever I use a web proxy, (hidemyass.com) Or anything like that I can. Also if I add a proxy through the internet options, I can access them.

    Any ideas?

P.S: I am using IE 6. Does not work on Firefox 2, or Opera.

    Thanks, Chad

Your DNS cache maybe corrupt. I had this problem for a bit. You can try repair the connection / removing it + re-adding it. Or there is a chance your ISP has shitty DNS (I also had this problem), in that case replace your DNS with OpenDNS servers (I use them, it works well).

I'd suggest trying to swap the DNS numbers for OpenDNS's servers before you take any big steps.

Well I know it's not my ISP, as it was working 2 days ago. After that it never worked again. Ill try repairing my DNS cache.

I had similar problems - don't discount the ISP dns issue. One time I was having a hell of a time connecting to a clients site (Windows and Linux). It'd work then fail, work, fail and so on. I thought the guy had a POS server. It turned out it was my ISPs DNS because after I changed to OpenDNS I haven't had one single DNS related problem.

I highly suggest trying OpenDNS. It's free and you have nothing to risk.

At least then you can know if it is the ISP DNS *for sure* instead of just guessing.

I switched back to my ISP's dns, as OpenDNS was causing more sites to do the same.

    Any ideas yet?

I have had this same problem before. All you need to do is disconnect your router and then plug it back in again.

Every time this has happened to me, resetting the router has fixed the problem.
