Hi, I would love to know your opinions on when to use or not to use canonical tags. yes, I know they are just a "suggestion" for the SE Not sure if you are involved in bigger sites with guided navigation, search with several facets, etc... I am not sure whether or not to use canonical tags when users drill down by color, or size, for example. Should all these 3 pages carry the same canonical tag? www.domain.com/category/subcategory/blue www.domain.com/category/subcategory/green www.domain.com/category/subcategory/small all use the same tag rel=www.domain.com/category/subcategory ? what about in this case www.domain.com/category/subcategory/blue/show24perpage www.domain.com/category/subcategory/blue/show-all www.domain.com/category/subcategory/blue/show100perpage ? When you have like 5 o 6 facets users can drill down, that can produce way too many similar pages. Yes, they will be slightly different, but in the end of the day it's still www.domain.com/category/subcategory So isn't it a good idea to get all the SEO juice I can back to that URL? What do you think? Thanks so much
I clicked to of your pages there and they all redirect me to home page, I don't think there's a good application for canonical tag here, it's way tricky and inappropriate.
