my site sells records, for each records there is a: MASTER RELEASE ID on this page it shows all items that match that MASTER RELEASE ID (multipul as we may have 5 copies at different prices) so Example: Madonne - vogue ( url /madonna/vogue/) 5.77 ( url products.aspx?id=21) 4.55 ( url products.aspx?id=22) 1.99 ( url products.aspx?id=23) BUT each of the items has its own idividual page as they maybe different conditions and need a fuller description so there is duplication apart from price & condition on these pages. so my questions is, do I no-index them as they are listed on the master release page?
I wouldn't exclude them; as long as they aren't entirely identical they should be OK. I'd recommend getting a Google 'Webmaster Tools' account as well (it's free). Then you can see if Google considers them duplicates of each other; and then can take action on your part as needed.
Whew; alright then! Maybe noindex the dynamic pages, and create static pages (possibly linked from your SITEMAP) that have links to the dynamic pages. That way you're still getting the content out there, without fear of duplication.
If you noindex pages where content is very close, then you should be OK. Maybe before doing that, check your website traffic logs and see how often those dynamic pages are the actual "landing pages" of searchers. If they're not entrance pages to your site, probably not much to worry about.
