USA has the National Guards, what are they used for then? Struck me strange that foreign troops no matter how close are allowed inside a sovereign country. This should happen when there is a catastrophe not an emergency.

HR5122 also known as the John Warner Defense Authorization Act was signed by the president on Oct 17, 2006 John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007. Section 1076 Text of Hr5122 is titled "Use of the Armed Forces in major public emergencies". Removing the legalese from the text, and combining multiple sentences, it provides that: The President may employ the armed forces to restore public order in any State of the United States the President determines hinders the execution of laws or deprives people of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws. The actual text is on page 322-323 of the legislation.

What about the principle of Posse Comitatus?

Doesn't this agreement with the Canadians open things up to foreign armies policing America?

Isn't this an issue for people?

And yes I knew about the John Warner Act.

Posse Comitatus is only an act. The Constitution does not limit the use of the armed forces to maintain order.

Soon the tyrant will be gone, no need to worry about these such things. Plus, many people tend to forget that US has very relaxed gun laws, did you know there are over 300,000,000 legal guns in the US? That means 1 for every US citizen for (probably neveR) if the goverment got out of hand.

But allowing other countries' armed forces to maintain law and order? That doesn't sound very right to me. Unless of course Canada opt to be the 51st state of USA, which I seriously don't believe they would :)

Don't need to be so troublesome , 50 states, 1 district and 1 country constitutes the new USA :) That saves all the troubles.....

Add on : Bogart do not have to worry about Immigrant issues and can drive down Canada for his 4 subsidized wives :)

One big supernation of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.

    Isn't that what everyone wants?

This way there is one law, one government, one judicial system, and one tax authority no one can escape for the entire continent.

Doesn't that sound like a good idea?
