Hi everyone We have an online store that we are using to sell health products. The fulfillment company that we use is Shipwire. Whenever a Canadian customer orders from us, they have to pay really high international shipping costs. There are also added 'admin' costs from UPS, just to get it through customs. So we occasionally have a situation where someone will buy a small box of something and end up paying $60-70 between the shipping and the taxes. Needless to say, this results in a lot of complaints. We are considering using Shipwire's Canadian warehouse to hold some inventory. That way Canadians will pay much lower shipping. We will have to pay some duty ourselves but it won't be too much. What we're more worried about is the Canadian tax situation. 1. If we (a US company) take a Canadian customer's order and ship their goods from a Canadian warehouse, do we need to charge Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/PST)? 2. Would we need to file a Canadian tax return on any income generated in sales to Canadians? We're just considering whether this is worth all the time to set it up. Any thoughts would be really appreciated! Thanks W
