Off course you can! Writing by hand is the ONLY way to end-up with a code that is clean, free of stupid errors and browser's incompatibilities, and easy to maintain! Professionals use Notepad or Notepad++ (the most common text editors).
Yes, It is so easy. I do not recommend writing them manually, you might commit errors without seeing them or do silly stuff like not closing the body or things like this. I prefer dealing with programs like adobe dream weaver. I am using it from a year and I am really satisfied with it. It has many advantages.
I found 2 easy ways. I downloaded the free Kompozer. Anything you enter, paste, etc. generates code. The other is is wordpress. If you enter something in the visual screen, you can press the HTML button and it will show you the code. There are also a lot of free sources on the internet.
I remember I was making thousands of dollars when Frontpage got out. People "stole" my web design business because a 12y/o could make a website with frontpage for a couple of bucks. However, most of the time, those site were "ugly" or were not well positionned in the browser. My new business just born: I was fixing those website for more than if I built it myself by hand. People just could not fix it because they have no clue about those code. For me, I just clicked on the "source", could usually see the mistake in a couple of minutes and charge the regular $499 to fix it. I had $15K- $20K months of revenue back then...

HTML can be learnt via hand, type W3c schools into Google and you will find a site with great tutorials and information on the subject. If you can get hold of dreamweaver this is a good program for creating HTML sites. Try starting with a few simple notepad exercises though and you should start to easily get the hang of HTML.
Thanks a lot to all DP webmasters for sharing this informative knowledge regarding HTML Language with me...Keep it up..
