Can you use MyBlogLog for people to post comment? If so, how?

Or do you just have to user wp's built in register system?

MyBlogLog does not affect the comments on your blog. It is a social site that you can use to meet other bloggers, network, and grow your blog. People will use avatars from MBL on their comments (through a plugin), but the comments themselves are posted directly on the blog.

Users do not need to register to post a comment if you change your settings. One of the biggest mistakes new bloggers make is forcing other bloggers to register on their site to comment. Do that and you're not going to get any.

    Hope that helps.

I'm just wondering because I see that on JohnChow.com there is no "register" spot and I see comments all the time. I assume that people don't just type in their name and email ever time...

He has a mybloglog avatar plugin installed. Search "mybloglog" on johnchow's site and there will be a post about it.

When users post their URL in comments the MBL or MyAvatars plugins recognize the user and associate them with their MBL profile. Then it pulls up their avatar.

Hmmm, but does this plugin prevent people from having to type their username / password / url every time they make a comment? That is the main thing I was interested in (but I did have plans to add the avatars later - so thanks for that).

Go to your blog's admin panel and in the Options Tab, unclick on the box saying users have to register to comment (WP). Then your users won't have to login to post.

So then how do you make it so that you don't have to approve comments then?

It is done automatically if your settings are correct. On the options tab, click on Discussion. There, you'll see check-boxes that will allow you to do this.

Install Spam Karma 2 and forget about comments moderation :)

As for MyBlogLog plugin, I must admit that it's not easy to make it look good with every theme. Personally, I didn't manage to integrate it well.

I agree, I'm trying to get the colors straightened out for my sine now. It is kind of a strange system, I'm not quite sure I understand what it is all about.
