how long is your piece of string... SEO on the cheap takes months and will not get you the traffic you need to make money...

Either invest time into research or invest your money into a well respected SEO company... SEO is not something that will happen over night.

 

There are many Tools in the online to optimize your site. But , if you are going with free tools you need to be patient to increase the traffic and get good pr for you. If you tell the site here, any one can give you valuable suggestions to get more traffic. Why I told you to tell your site is, getting only traffic is not the important for all , you need conversions so that you can get some profit from your site. "best" and "free" don't get along very well. and there is no best free tool either. there is only one reason for free tools to be free and the reason being they are all craps. if you want the best tool, you have to pay top dollars.

 

There are some good free tools, but datastage said, you have to be patient. Good SEO doesn't happen overnight. If you really want good, free SEO - start a blog. Write to it every day. Ensure you write optimized titles for every blog post. Link internally liberally with solid anchor text. Search the web for good related sites and build back links. It takes time. You have to be patient. Otherwise, be prepared to spend some money.

 

Do article submission, comment on other blog/forum that link back your URL, write the relevant meta tag for your website. Be consistant to do it and be patient. The result will only come to the person who are passionate to his/her work.

 

i would say free site seo is articles, then do follow blog and forum comments related to your site if possiable. Nice way to get traffic for free just takes a bit of time.

 

start with the right keyword research with Google AdWords Keyword tool. If you have the wrong keywords, no amount of SEO will help. Secondly study and study, forums like this one, Hubspot, SEO Moz will teach you more in a week than many so called experts will in a lifetime.
