Can you take off the copyright off of phpBB3 forum ! Is there like a product on phpBB3 that uou could take off the copyright like vBulletin. Thanks, Sir Rusty
I believe they include some text like "ask the developers if you have to remove the copyright" otherwise it will be a simple template edit, or they may be using phrases, but I'm sure it's still in the templates
Nah I rather keep it xD! I dont want to get sewed in any kind of way lol! I'll just go to vBulletin then. Thanks Loco. M!!!
I don't think phpBB allow removal. Neither do they allow you to pay for removal. I might be wrong. However I have never seen this anywhere. phpBB is a free script. There it makes no money from selling it. So a link from all phpBB forum will make there site have good rankings so they can sell banners.
they ask you to retain the copyright to support their software, and I think its more than fair enough, but if you really cnt leave anything at all(neither the phpbb) you my remove but you wont receive support form them.
There would be no point in removing it anyways. It dosen't harm your forums. Also if you did remove it. Everyone will still know it's a phpBB forum.
with VB you have to pay for branding free which is $120.00 Branding Free Option hope this helps as well...
The answer is YES...you can absolutely and legally remove the copyright of phpbb. They ASK that you don't as a gesture but the copyright is NOT required by them for usage of their forum software. They have openly stated this in their forums. As a former phpbb advocate (now I am a born again Mybb'er) I used to remove my copyright all the time. Idiots would get pissed and report me and phpbb would have to straighten them out. VB requires payment to remove copyright. MYBB doesn't allow removal. SMF...not sure about. IPB...not sure but I think they are like VB and require payment for removal.
SMF don't allow it. You get a huge banner saying you have removed it. I always thought, you are completely allowed to remove phpBB copyright, but if you don't keep it, then you aren't entitled to proper support from their forums.
